Gerard Sarnat

Sacred In The Ordinary

Satisfaction [on AM radio],
car bathed by lovely purple

rain, newly minted license
tucked Mama’s glovebox

metal flask in jacket pocket,
fresh condom inside wallet

I am so totally flustered
after going to front door

to pick up the real hot date
only to be greeted coldly

— such a stern father who

warns me, Blah blah her–

then much driving to search
out, park in remote cul-de-sac

and maneuvering us both
into upholstered back seat

where we undo buttons, but
when finally drunk enough

… none of our zippers work
or my phallus which came

to organism too fast to offer
proper chance for girl reaction.
